About Our Hunting

The idea of Wild Wing Lodge came about as a result of continuous requests by customers having their dogs in for training and seeing the vast numbers of birds and habitat. Comments were made that it made people think of ‘days of old’ when a days hunt would produce opportunities of 15 to 20 coveys of birds, some with 30 or more birds to a covey. With this in mind it became our theme to offer a hunt that would mimic the ‘days of old’. A hunt that would provide opportunities at 20 to 30 coveys of hard flying birds per day. We knew that to do this would require more huntable habitat, so more acreage was obtained and additional habitat and quail restoration began. Our habitat consists of native warm season grasses and a wide variety of grains grown for additional winter foods. Each summer we do a large release of quail onto the property using the Covey Base Camp method, this along with the already abundance of wild quail ensures quality birds in large numbers through the fall and winter months.

In the spring of 2001 Wild Wing Lodge was started and completed in the fall of 2001. Staying with the theme of ‘days of old’ the lodge was built in the rustic fashion utilizing ideas from the pasts and the present. Wild Wing Lodge was built to be very comfortable and relaxing. Setting in a very remote area, with exclusive access and abundant wildlife has the tendency to relax an individual. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and the lodge has all the modern conveniences. Access to the lodge may be obtained by driving, as all roads are either primary or secondary roads and with the availability of an airport 15 minutes away and pickup available at the airport, getting to Wild Wing Lodge and its remoteness is not a problem.

While hunting with us you can expect to see excellent dog work handled by professional and courteous guides. If you should choose to bring your own dog, which is encouraged, lodging will be provided at no additional fees. If the use of an A.T.V. should be required one will be provided also. While visiting at the lodge, in groups of three or larger, you will have the lodge and all of its comforts to yourself. If larger or corporate groups are requested, accommodations can be provided. To reserve a hunt with Wild Wing Lodge a 50% deposit is required, with the balance due upon completion of the hunt. All deposits are non-refundable, but are transferable, and rescheduled during the same hunting season.
